Advocates for Restoration
James 1:27's Sacred Call
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."
James 1:27 calls us to be advocates for those who have been abandoned by earthly fathers. The 1:27 Project's purpose is to live out this sacred call so that orphans can fully understand and know the love their Heavenly Father has for them- a love that will never abandon them. As advocates, The 1:27 Project's long-term goal is to restore hope, love, joy, and the simplicity of childhood through "the "camp" experience. We believe that this specific environment fosters the ability to childhood to be rediscovered by those who've had it stripped from them.
In 2018, The 1:27 Project strove to minister to orphans in Romania, both physically (through advocacy for better conditions) and spiritually (teaching of the Father's love). We held Camp 1:27 this past June, where we welcomed 30 campers (ages 6-17). God's glory was abundant and the joy and laughter was constant.
The key phrase in the verse above is "in their distress." Our mission is to not wait until the children have overcome their current situations, but to meet them where they are at and begin the restoration process. The intended outcome is preparation for success: success for children adopted/placed into foster care, and success for those whose next step is something else. The Lord calls us to co-live in their distress as children of God.
"In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
As the hands and feet of the Living God, we would greatly appreciate you joining us in praying for both our ministry and for the children for whom we are advocating for.
To be advocates for the restoration of hope, love, joy, and the simplicity of childhood through the camp environment.
